The Dummy

Tourist and Excursion Lines in Fort Erie
is an exhibit highlighting some of our unique rail lines including the Peg Leg Railway, Ontario's first monorail, which carried passengers between Ridgeway and Crystal Beach in the late 1890's. The Dummy was a self-propelled railway car that travelled back and forth across the International Railway Bridge, carrying shoppers between Fort Erie and Buffalo. The Sandfly Express carried summer revellers from the ferry terminal in Fort Erie to Erie Beach Amusement Park, beginning in the late 1880's.
