1. Where are the Fort Erie Museums?
  • The Fort Erie Historical Museum is located at 402 Ridge Road, Ridgeway,
    Ontario.
  • The Fort Erie Railway Museum is located at 400 Central Avenue, (north of Gilmore) Fort
    Erie, Ontario
  • The Ridgeway Battlefield Site is on Highway #3 (Garrison Road) east of Ridge Road,
    Ridgeway, Ontario.
  • Mewinzha: First Nations Gallery is located at 100 Queen St. Fort Erie, in the Buffalo and Fort Erie Peace Bridge Authority Building.
  • There is limited parking in front of the Historical Museum, but lots of street parking.
  • The Historical Museum and the Railway Museum are accessible to those in wheelchairs.


2. When are the Museums open?

June to August
open 7 days a week
9:00 a.m – 5:00 p.m.

September to May
open Sunday to Friday

Victoria Day Weekend to Labour Day weekend
open 7 days a week

Outdoor site with cairn - can be viewed anytime

4. I'd like to do research at the Museum. Where do I go?
Our Archives are located at the Fort Erie Historical Museum, 402 Ridge Road, Ridgeway, Ontario. Available research materials cover a broad range of topics about the history of Fort Erie and the former Bertie Township. For a list of archival subjects click here. The best time to do research is either Wednesday morning or Sunday afternoon, but you are welcome anytime the Museum is open.

5. I am unable to visit to do my own research, is their anyone to help me?
The Museum will attempt to provide information in response to verbal or written requests. Research requests requiring less than five minutes of staff time will be carried out free of charge. Larger requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis with appropriate fees.

6. Does the Museum offer school tours?
Yes, we offer school programs based on the Ontario Curriculum.

Yes, our volunteers are an integral part of our operation and have fun while providing a valuable service. For more information on volunteer opportunities please click here.

8. I can't come into the Museum is there any other way to volunteer?
Absolutely. Some of our volunteers have never set foot in the door, but still contribute enormously, especially in the areas of research and writing. For more information on volunteer opportunities please visit click.here.

9. I'd like to donate artifacts to the Museum, how do I go about it?
Thank you for thinking of us, like most Museums we rely on donations to help build the collection. We are interested in objects, photographs and documents that have a Fort Erie connection. It doesn't even have to be that old. You can see what we collect by viewing our collection policy ( please click here.) 10. Does the Museum accept financial donations?
Museums are non-profit organizations with charitable status. Financial donations are always welcome and go towards the Museum programming. We also have a Memorial Fund for people wishing to make a donation in memory of a loved one. Tax receipts are available for donations over $10.00.

11. Do you have a gift shop?
Yes, we operate a gift shop of books, T-shirts, stationery, post cards, and other interesting things related to Fort Erie. Items can be purchased at the gift shop or by mail order. To view our gift shop please click here.
